Application Of Solar Energy

Technology to convert solar energy by taking energy from the Sun to produce heat, light, heat, electricity, water and cooling for homes and commercial industry. An awful lot of technology applications developed for the utilization of solar energy, one of which is  Solar Cells.

Solar Cells
Solar cells are usually arranged into modules that each Moduls can consist of 40 solar cells. A number of modules can be compiled to form the ranks of PV were installed with a fixed facing South. Or could even be installed in a tracking device, sunlight to get solar energy more throughout the day

.

Several rows of PV can generate enough power for a House. As for the industrial application or utility companies, hundreds of lines of PV can be linked to form one large and ample system of PV to meet the needs of electricity.

Thin-film solar cells

Thin-film solar cells using several layers of a semiconductor material with thickness in the micrometer scale. The technology makes it possible to make solar cells that are integrated with the rooftops to skylights. Even solar cells for that application has been designed with the same power house roof.

Concentrated Solar Cell

Some solar cells were also created to work with the Sun's rays are focused (concentrated sunlight). Solar cells are integrated into the sunlight collectors usually use a lens to focus on it to the top of solar cells.

There are several advantages and disadvantages of using this technique when compared to flat-plate solar panels. Its main goal is to use a little maybe expensive semiconductor material but increase efficiency with more solar energy on the surface of cells. but because the lens should be directed to the Sun, the use of collectors to be constrained by location or region get the most sunlight.

Not much different from a flat plate solar panels, this technology can also be mounted on the top of the device tracking the Sun that is simple, but most of the use of sophisticated devices. As a result, the use of solar cell technology is still limited to the electric company, the industry and large buildings.

The Performance Of Solar Cells

Performance solar cells can be measured by looking at the efficiency in converting sunlight into electricity. Only certain energy ranges from Sun that efficiently convert into electricity, and largely reflected or absorbed by the material that formed the solar cells.

Solar cell efficiency commercial only by 15%, or about 1/6th of the sunlight that produce electricity. The lower the efficiency, then the width of the solar panel is needed, and that is, the more expensive price to be paid. Improving solar cell efficiency by maintaining the prices remain low is a challenge to be solved.

Up to now, little by little these challenges can be overcome, with proven efficiency by 15% at this time where in the 1950s, efficiency is still less than 4%.

This is all I can write may be useful and some time in the future I will write an article other than solar energy utilization of which Solar Thermal.
